I hope you had a good Christmas and holiday break and wish you, as part of the government information and records management community, the very best for 2018.

Archives NZ is back at work! In 2017, we worked on our strategic direction and published the Archives 2057 Strategy (our eyes on the future and a nod backwards to the Archives Act of 1957). An integral part of this strategy is ensuring government information is being created and managed well, today.

Development of our three strategic themes: taking archives to the people; upholding transparency; and building systems together, will provide opportunities for us all to work together this year. Specifically for me the vital work with Executive Sponsors continues in 2018.

Look out for our State of Government Recordkeeping report, being prepared for publication at the moment. Its availability will be advertised on the records toolkit. We are targeting a wider readership with a fresh approach—so please spread the word and we hope you will find it informative and compelling.

Ngā mihi
